WHAT IS PODIATRY?
A podiatrist or doctor of podiatry is the only health professional whose entire training is focused on the foot and ankle.
Podiatrists receive extensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the foot and ankle, including medical or surgical methods. Many podiatrists further their training through participation in a postgraduate, hospital-based residency program.
After completion of their doctorate degree, a podiatrist must pass national and state examinations in order to be licensed in the state in which they practice.
