July 5, 2013DeveloperCanadian patients6 comments

Each year people miss more work and lose more wages because of neck and back pain than as a result of any other health-related problem. The Spine Institute Northwest has been putting on free seminars all across Canada to educate those who are tired of living in pain and want to learn more about the minimally invasive procedures and treatments that have proven successful. If you live in the Edmonton, Alberta area and wish to find relief for your pain, you can send in your information and be notified when a seminar is coming to Edmonton. Reserving your seat may be the beginning of the journey to a pain free life.

There are many different causes for neck and back pain, and if you suffer from pain due to worn or enlarged facet joints Endoscopic Assisted Nerve Excision may provide relief. Through a small incision, the procedure uses special tools and a laser to remove the nerves that generate pain. Most patients usually require 2-3 nerves on each side to be removed. This generally takes 30 minutes a nerve, and within days you should be able to return to your regular activities.

Have you suffered a herniated disc? Endoscopically Assisted Spinal Decompression may be able to give you the relief you need. This minimally invasive procedure goes through a small incision to minimize any damage to the surrounding tissues and muscles. This alternative to traditional open back surgery allows for a quicker recovery time, and less post-operative pain. This surgery takes about 90 minutes for each level, as tissue is removed from the inner disc and outer rim.

Lumbar Interbody Fusion and Facet Fixation is used for those who require a fusion of the spine. Surgeons are able to perform this from the side, instead of the front or back of the body, leading to faster recovery times and better rates of success, which means less pain. Patient can often recover within weeks, instead of months like with traditional surgeries often offered in Canada. After this procedure you will be able to gradually return to work, and get back to a pain free life.

The Spine Institute Northwest offers these as well as many other treatments and minimally invasive procedures that can give you back the life you once had. With the backlogs often found in the Canadian healthcare system, many patients are tired of the long waits that for solutions that don’t work, or even for simple diagnoses. Many Canadians have found the convenience and results they’ve been waiting for just across the border at the Spine Institute Northwest. With facilities conveniently located just outside of Seattle, the caring staff and experienced doctors look forward to helping you get back the pain-free life that you have been waiting for and deserve.

I have had 2 MRI ‘s of my lower back over the years and I have 2 herniated discs. L4-5 , L5-S1 . I have been suffering for quite some time, +/- 20 years. I basically have good days and bad days. I would like to know if I am a candidate for surgery. I am 63 yrs old and have just retired and have no insurance to help pay so I am also interested in the costs as well. I would be available to come for an appointment if necessary before evaluation.
