Garrett Baxter, a deputy Sheriff for Washington State and lumbar surgery patient at the Spine Institute Northwest, shares what it was like dealing with degenerative disc disease.
“For years, my back would go out every once in a while,” Garrett says. “I was told I had degenerative disc disease, bulging discs, and that I should avoid surgery and just do physical therapy.”
But on Valentine’s Day 2016, Garrett woke up and was unable to even walk.
“When Dr. Kamson saw me, he was actually surprised I was even walking in my condition,” Garrett recalls. “Having the surgery has changed my life and I’m now able to do things I’ve wanted to do for years.”
Before visiting our Bothell clinic, Garrett had undergone extensive physical therapy, but the pain kept coming back. It got so bad that he started having pain 24 hours a day. Garrett recommends that if you’re having back pain, you should do your research and talk to experts like Dr. Kamson.
“All the reviews were great for Dr. Kamson and the Spine Institute Northwest,” Garrett says. “My pain level is zero, and it was probably a 10 before.”
Garrett said he believes having his surgery at the Spine Institute Northwest saved his job. “I’m a deputy sheriff and I ride mountain bikes at work, on patrol,” he explains. The surgery has been “one of the best experiences of my life.”
